Qatar Airways Launches First Commercial Flight to St. Petersburg

Qatar Airways commenced its daily flights to St. Petersburg on 19 December for the first time, marking its second destination in Russia. Qatar Airways flight QR279 departed from Hamad International Airport (HIA) on 19th December at 7:30 in the morning and arrived at Pulkovo Airport at 13:50. Qatar Airways deployed its state-of-the-art Boeing B787 Dreamliner on the St. Petersburg-Doha route.

On the successful launch of St. Petersburg flights, H.E. Mr. Akbar Al Baker said: “I am delighted to touch down today on board our first commercial flight to St. Petersburg. Following the great success of our Moscow route, we are extremely happy to extend our reach into Russia. By launching this new route, we are committing to further supporting the Russian market, and providing inbound and outbound passengers a seamless journey through the skies.”

St. Petersburg is a culturally rich city in Russia. The latest daily direct flights to St. Petersburg will enhance the tourism in Russia as well as in Qatar. In future, the St. Petersburg service will be operated with an Airbus A320 aircraft, featuring 12 business class seats, and 120 economy class seats.
