SriLankan Airlines, the national flag carrier of Sri Lanka received an award at World Travel Awards Grand Final for its consolidated presence in the Indian Sub-continent. SriLankan Airlines received the “World’s Leading Airline to the Indian Ocean” award at the World Travel Awards World Ceremony in Phu Quoc, Vietnam.
On receiving the esteemed international award, SriLankan Airlines, Chief Commercial Officer, Mr. Siva Ramachandran said, “We are pleased to have received this prestigious award at the WTA World Ceremony. This is a true testimony of our efforts to establish a strong presence in South Asia and the Indian Ocean markets. Whilst introducing new destinations, we have also increased frequencies to popular destinations based on the passenger demand. We will continue to explore opportunities to expand our reach in the region and endeavor to offer our passengers enhanced connectivity and a wider choice when travelling with us.”
SriLankan Airlines also received “Asia’s Leading Cultural Airline” at WTA Asia Ceremony and “Asia’s Leading Airline to the Indian Ocean” at the WTA Indian Ocean Ceremony during this year.
The award demonstrates that the airline’s significant presence in the South Asian region. The national carrier is providing strong connectivity to 14 Indian destinations by offering 133 weekly flights. Also, the airline is offering significant connectivity to other popular destinations such as Dhaka, Lahore, and Karachi. Besides these, SriLankan Airlines is offering 27 flights per week to the Maldives and connecting destinations across the Middle East, the Far East, Australia, and the Europe meeting the needs of holiday seekers. Also, SriLankan Airlines became the first airline to connect Gan Island with the world.
